(John Constable, Dedham Vale with River Stour in Flood, painted some time between 1814 and 1817, possibly commissioned as a wedding present; found here, which also has more information about it)
Happy Thursday to you! It’s a cold, wet, grey Belgian day here; I am freezing in the study, one cat is lying on the sofa swearing at anyone who even looks at him, the other is watching the laundry revolving in the washing machine. Good times.
My review of Philip Pullman’s The Book of Dust: La Belle Sauvage is now up at Shiny New Books.
Spoiler: I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Since it’s just won the Waterstone’s Book of the Year Award, you don’t have to take my word for it... (Though I should remind you I have very good taste so you probably ought to.) Congratulations, Mr Pullman!
