A lovely post on what sounds like an intriguing and beautiful book. As a longtime lover of Woolf I am particularly drawn by Laing's persistent musings on Woolf's life and work. And as a passionate walker this also appeals. Someday I would love to do a long walk/pilgrimage like this.


Thank you Emily! It is a lovely book, without being nostalgic (although it does sometimes teeter on the brink, I think). I didn't mention it above, but she writes very interestingly on the effect of walking on writing, how you enter a sort of trancelike state (another other world), and Woolf found this too it seems.
