What a brilliant poem -- good choice! I love love love Stevie Smith's poetry -- in my thankfulyl brief period of secondary school teaching I introduced her poems to a group of disaffected 14 year old with amazing success. She was one in a million -- so deceptively simple, so thought-provoking. And yes the drawings do add. Thanks!

Thanks Harriet! I wish I'd been taught her poems (and I bet you were brilliant at it); I was given them when I was a teenager and was totally nonplussed. I didn't read them again for years, and now I really love them, her novels too. She really was a genius.

Excellent poem, excellent title and excellent analysis!

Aw, thanks Stefanie! Have you read any Stevie Smith? I think you'd like her...
